Two new studies use transaction-level data to illuminate global dollar funding markets. The first maps the London FX derivatives market, distinguishing hedging behavior by corporations and institutional investors from speculation by hedge funds. The second shows that repo and FX swap markets serve as close substitutes for euro-area banks, with pricing reflecting balance sheet costs and dealer market power.​
